Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day technical, operational, and quality management of laboratory services at the assigned site.
- Serve as the technical expert, ensuring service continuity and addressing operational, technical, quality, and stakeholder feedback issues.
- Supervise, mentor, train, and assess staff competency, while identifying development needs and supporting performance improvement.
- Monitor test performance and quality standards, implement quality control and assurance programmes, and ensure consistency of testing practices across services.
- Review quality indicators, audit findings, incidents, and customer feedback, and lead corrective, preventive, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in method validation, verification, equipment evaluation, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, and performance monitoring activities.
- Investigate technical, operational, quality, and equipment-related issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, safety requirements, and quality management systems.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and auditable documentation, records, and document control systems.
- Support service governance activities, including incident investigations, quality reporting, emergency preparedness, and business continuity planning.
- Manage administrative and operational functions, including manpower planning, roster scheduling, leave approvals, inventory control, resource planning, and management reporting.
- Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a core laboratory environment within a healthcare setting.
- Experience in laboratory regulatory compliance and accreditation processes is an added advantage.
- ASCP certification is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, staff development, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of quality management systems, quality assurance, method validation, and laboratory operations.
- Experience in equipment evaluation, commissioning, maintenance, and performance monitoring.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including conducting meetings, briefings, and preparing management reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, digital technologies, and AI-related tools.
