Responsibilities:
- Perform patient registration, specimen reception, preparation, and packing in accordance with established procedures.
- Conduct laboratory testing, including urine microscopy, full blood count, HbA1c, and other assigned analyses.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory instruments in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
- Perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, ECG, and spirometry procedures.
- Verify, validate, and report test results accurately and within required turnaround times.
- Investigate, document, and escalate abnormal results or testing anomalies where appropriate.
- Perform daily quality control checks and troubleshoot equipment or testing issues as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and maintenance logs to ensure traceability and regulatory compliance.
- Respond to patient enquiries professionally and escalate complex matters when necessary.
- Adhere to workplace safety, laboratory safety, and infection prevention protocols.
- Provide operational and administrative support for laboratory and clinic activities as assigned.
- Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory within a healthcare setting is advantageous, though training will be provided.
- Experience in phlebotomy and heel-prick sample collection is an added advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to manage challenging situations professionally and maintain a patient-focused approach.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is an added advantage.
